As you look at me, you are already measuring your own life by the same standards.
In this image, the figure becomes the object of the viewer’s gaze, yet at the same time, she looks back at us. The viewer observes and judges through their own standards, and these standards—often unconsciously—also shape and confine the trajectories of our own lives. In this way, a continuous loop is formed between the viewer and the subject: a loop of gaze.
This work does not simply reverse the direction of looking to create interaction within the exhibition space. Rather, it articulates the discomfort that arises when seeing and being seen occur simultaneously. Although the viewer occupies the position of the one who looks, they are not situated in a position of true control.
By introducing the unsettling element of a third eye, I seek to evoke a quiet sense of horror— not as spectacle, but as a psychological state.
In this moment, beauty collapses, and looking becomes overly intimate, unstable, and difficult to escape.
